We’re here for the long term.

About Infinitary

Infinitary Fund is a limited partnership based in New York that provides investment advice in the form of a pooled-investment vehicle designed for long-term investors. We believe that scalable returns are best achieved primarily through buying and holding large-cap stocks for long time periods, without leverage.

Our mission is to build the most powerful system we can imagine for mathematics and investing.

The Infinitary Fund was created using an algorithm developed by Nicolas B. Spoors. We recognized the value of data, the significance of analyzing it properly, and the benefits of a stable investment strategy. Combining these three elements we have been able to perform competitively while staying true to our core belief: prioritize research.

Our Math: Stamina and Quality

  • Homotopy Type Theory (HoTT) allows for us to identify seemingly disparate structures as functionally equivalent. When a batch of stocks in the S&P 500 are functionally equivalent, they provide insights as to what direction the market is going. In this sense, we are able to detect quality of interest in a stock, as opposed to relying on quantity.

  • Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) research embeds into our system a robust predictive edge. In CAS, one focuses on the concept of “emergence”, which is a phenomena in nature that takes place when an unprecedented change in a system occurs. We are able to identify emergent properties in the market, that further indicate the direction of the evolving structure, and in this way we do not have to rely on historical data.

An example of emergence as it appears in nature lies in a commonly known structure: a snowflake. Each snowflake comes from the same place, yet is unique in output, much like how stocks can behave.

  • Abstract Knot Theory (AKT) allows us to identify topological properties within market structures. When market dynamics chance, we can detect with AKT how the relationships between market actors and assets bend and stretch. These relationships do not tear, or break, hence why our model can withstand market structure changes without losing relevance.

Meet the Team

Nicolas B. Spoors

Principal; Portfolio Manager

Nicolas graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a BA in Mathematics. He has worked as an Adjunct Instructor of Finite Mathematics at KVCC and in the Boston area as a Data Analyst. Nicolas has spent years of research developing the proprietary model that the fund uses for investment selection, sizing and portfolio balance.

Michael E. Mills

Principal; Chief Executive Officer

Michael graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a BA in Economics and Political Science. Michael guides the overall strategy of growth at the fund. He recently consulted for an equity research firm and currently works for the FP&A team at a national retail company. Michael has been studying economics for nearly a decade and is currently studying for his MA in Economics.

Our Mission is to build the most powerful system we can imagine for mathematics and investing.
